Questions, answered
What does urVOX actually do?
It removes the singer's voice from music as it plays. Your phone sends music to urVOX over Bluetooth, and urVOX plugs into your speaker's AUX socket. Press the M button to switch between 100% (the original song), 25% (a quiet guide vocal) and 0% (vocals removed).
Does it work with Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube?
Yes. urVOX works with anything your phone, tablet or laptop can play over Bluetooth, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, Deezer, SoundCloud and your own downloads. No special karaoke tracks or subscriptions are needed.
Is there a subscription or monthly fee?
No. You pay once and urVOX is yours. There's no subscription, no monthly fee, no account to create and nothing to renew. There's no app and no updates to install either: switch it on and it works. The only costs are whatever your music app already charges, if you use a paid version.
Will it work with my speaker?
If your speaker, soundbar, hi-fi, amp or PA has a 3.5mm AUX input (the same size as a headphone socket), yes. For older hi-fis with red and white phono (RCA) inputs, use a cheap 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter.
Do I need an app?
No. There's nothing to download. Slide the switch to ON, pair your phone with urVOX in your Bluetooth settings, then use the M button to change mode. Lights on the top show which mode you're in.
Does it remove the vocals perfectly from every song?
On most mainstream studio recordings the lead vocal disappears very convincingly. Every mix is different, though: live recordings, heavy echo effects or stacked backing vocals can leave a faint trace. The 25% mode is there for when you want to keep a little of the original as a guide.
Is there any delay?
urVOX processes the music in real time as it plays, so the vocals switch off the moment you press the button.
How long does the battery last?
About 8–10 hours of playing from a full charge. It recharges over USB-C, like most modern phones. A light on top shows the battery status.
Does it come with a microphone?
No. urVOX takes the vocals out of the music; you bring the voice! For a louder party setup, use a speaker or karaoke speaker that has its own microphone input.
Is it a good gift for children?
Yes, it's one of our most popular uses. It's simple enough for children to use themselves and works with the music they already love. It needs a speaker with an AUX socket and a phone or tablet with Bluetooth.
